Why do business in Brazil?

Economically, Brazil ranks at number 10 in the world. And with a GDP growth of 9% in the first trimester of 2010, its ascent on the list is almost guaranteed. According the Goldman Sachs, it will be the 5th economy in 2050.

Since 2008, when Brazil obtained the all-important “Investment Grade” from Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings, it became a preferred destination for foreign investment. Furthermore, its stable politics willing to attract investments through incentives, its rising middle class and the future international events (FIFA World Cup in 2014 and Olympic Games in 2016) makes Brazil a logical destination for the expansion of any business. Now is the time to invest!

As a country it has risen both economically and in terms of political stability. Brazil’s military regime ended in 1985, when the government was handed over to elected civilians. Since then, the largest country in Latin America also became the largest economic power in the region.

The government has a political decision making strategy to hasten the availability of the vast labour force, natural resources and foreign exchange as a means of attracting foreign investment. As a result, an exponential rise of foreign corporations entries can be noticed in the last few years.

Exports are constantly outnumbering imports, as Brazil has become a preferred place for operations and manufacturing due to a large and relatively cheap labour force and abundance of natural resources.

Politically the government does whatever it can to entice economic growth by facilitating foreign investment.

The gap between rich and poor in Brazil is well known, but recently a rapid increase in the middle class is generating more demand and business opportunities, as the disposable income of an already powerful market is on the rise.
